Cohen's ALZHEIMER'S STORIES
Sunday, April 16, 2023, 4pm
Elsinore Theatre

Alzheimer's Stories is based on recollections shared by the families and friends of people afflicted by the dreaded disease. The work is in three movements, the arc of which loosely mimics the progression of the disease.

“One of the greatest achievements a work of art can hope to reach is to bring us to our darkest places and show us a light. To illuminate our fears, ease our anxieties, and heal our pain. Whether or not you’ve struggled with this disease personally or as a caregiver, this is what makes Alzheimer’s Stories a truly special experience.”

– Kody Wallace, Choral Journal

Founding Artistic Director Dr. Solveig Holmquist conducts the chorale and orchestra with guest soloists.

SPECIAL EVENT: STILL ALICE
Wednesday, April 12, 2023, 7pm
Salem Cinema

Join Festival Chorale Oregon and Salem Cinema for this special screening of Still Alice, a "Reel Change For Our Community" benefit for Festival Chorale and the Alzheimer's Association Oregon & SW Washington Chapter.

Based on the novel by Lisa Genova, Still Alice is a realistic and emotional story centered on a woman living with Alzheimer's Disease. Dr. Alice Howland (Julianne Moore in her only Oscar-winning role) is a renowned linguistics professor at Columbia University. When words begin to escape her and she starts becoming lost on her daily jogs, Alice must come face-to-face with a devastating diagnosis: early-onset Alzheimer's Disease. As the once-vibrant woman struggles to hang on to her sense of self for as long as possible, Alice's three grown children must watch helplessly as their mother disappears more and more with each passing day.

Festival Chorale Oregon does not perform.
