Join Festival Chorale Oregon on an 11-day performance tour of Portugal and northern Spain in July 2024. An auditioned group of singers will present a program of American choral music while exploring Lisbon, Porto, Leon, and San Sebastian. From cobbled alleyways to sun-kissed beaches, our days will be packed with history, art, food...and of course song!

 

Both singers and non-singers are welcome, so don't miss this unique travel opportunity. Auditions Now Open

Book your audition now. Auditions take place at Dr. Solveig Holmquist's home: 995 Morningside Dr. SE, Salem. Please arrive five minutes prior to your selected time and bring your completed audition form. You may park in the driveway, though please park along the street if another car is already in the driveway. You do not need to prepare or bring any music with you...Dr. Holmquist will guide you through the audition.

Tour Overview

Our tour of Portugal and northern Spain will likely be July 1-11, 2024 (nine days on the ground and two days travel). We will begin the tour in Lisbon (with our first concert) and then travel to Porto, with stops in scenic and historic Sintra and Conimbriga.

 

After three days in Porto (which will include our second concert, visits to a winery or two, and a boat trip on the Douro River), we will head into Spain and spend a night in León (city tour and concert) before heading north to the Galicia Coast of northern Spain.

 

From the town of Gijón, we will follow the coastal highway east to Donastia-San Sebastian (also known as San Sebastian). Somewhere between Gijón and Santander we will stop for a seafood luncheon. Three days in San Sebastian will give us a chance to tour the city, sample many of the culinary delights (San Sebastian is one of the gastronomic capitals of Europe!), and take a trip to the Basque country, where we will perform our final concert.

 

We are exploring the possibility of extending the tour a few more days with a home-stay visit to the French city of Bordeaux (yet another city renowned for its wine!). If that doesn't work out, our return flights will depart from Bilbao, Spain.

 

Meals

All breakfasts are included. A welcome dinner in Lisbon, the seafood luncheon on the Galicia Coast, and a farewell dinner in San Sebastian are the only other included meals. All other lunches and dinners will be on your own.
